OM Chapter 1 and Sathyavan Savithiri Set for 20 November; Appa Kutty Due Earlier
OM: Chapter 1, starring Dhanush and Mammootty, is scheduled to open in cinemas on 20 November 2026, the same Friday as Keerthy Suresh and Mysskin’s Sathyavan Savithiri. The OM Chapter 1 release date was announced back on 2 October, so the shared slot is not a fresh postponement.

OM was originally expected in cinemas on 16 October. Dhanush subsequently announced a change of plans, with the team moving away from the date close to Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 and ruling out a Deepavali release alongside Suriya’s Scene. On 2 October, producer Wunderbar Films announced the revised worldwide theatrical date of 20 November 2026. The date appears as “20.11.26” on the Dhanush–Mammootty poster.
Written and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film also features Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, Naseeruddin Shah and Indrans. It is backed by Wunderbar Films and R Take Studios, with Sai Abhyankkar composing the music. The poster’s striking action imagery makes the film’s presentation clear without establishing the precise relationship between the two central characters.
There has also been a separate development concerning the film’s Tamil Nadu release. The AGS Cinemas distribution poster identifies the company with the state’s theatrical rights. That announcement should not be confused with another release-date change. The current OM cinema listing also carries the 20 November date.
🎞️ Sathyavan Savithiri Shares the Same Friday
Keerthy Suresh and Mysskin’s Sathyavan Savithiri is likewise scheduled for 20 November 2026. Its earlier plan was a 24 July theatrical release, and the makers confirmed the revised November date on 2 October.
Directed by debutant Praveen S Vijaay, the film casts Keerthy and Mysskin as legal professionals. The ensemble includes Charukesh, Bala Saravanan, Shilpa Manjunath and Brigida. Drumsticks Productions and Zee Studios are associated with the film, while Sam CS is the music composer and Arul Vincent handles cinematography.
The courtroom setting gives Sathyavan Savithiri a different identity from OM. Its promotional material establishes the leads’ profession and setting, but the full conflict and the film’s outcome should be left to the story rather than inferred from a release poster.
📅 Appa Kutty Is Scheduled for 6 November
Vijay Antony’s Appa Kutty should not be counted as a confirmed competitor on 20 November. The film was first planned for 16 October before Vijay Antony’s production banner announced 6 November 2026 as its revised theatrical date on 10 October. That places it in the Deepavali release period, alongside Suriya’s Scene.
Written and directed by Mu Maran, Appa Kutty centers on a father and his young daughter, played by Vijay Antony and Lithanya Sivabalan. Preethi Asrani also appears in the cast. Its image of a father holding a sleeping baby reflects a family focus, but the supplied poster itself does not display a new 20 November date.
For now, the two Tamil films sharing the 20 November slot are OM: Chapter 1 and Sathyavan Savithiri. The next useful confirmation will come from the makers and exhibitors as they finalize show timings, bookings, and any further date changes.
