RC17 Movie Launched: Chiranjeevi Gives First Clap for Ram Charan-Sukumar Reunion

Ram Charan’s RC17 movie with director Sukumar was formally launched in Hyderabad on Sunday, 1 November 2026. Chiranjeevi attended the traditional pooja ceremony and sounded the first clap, marking a new milestone for the actor-director pair eight years after Rangasthalam. Alongside the launch photographs, the team unveiled a peacock-inspired pre-look poster, while keeping the film’s story and final title under wraps.

🎥 RC17 Movie Launch: Chiranjeevi Sounds the First Clap

The muhurtham ceremony took place at Ramanaidu Studios in Hyderabad, bringing together Ram Charan, Sukumar, the producers, and several Telugu film personalities. Chiranjeevi was the guest of honor and gave the ceremonial first clap for the film. His participation was part of the launch proceedings; it has not been announced as an acting appearance in RC17.

Photographs from the event show Ram Charan sporting longer hair, a beard, and a light blue shirt, with the venue decorated with floral garlands. The group pictures capture the team coming together for the occasion, including a traditional presentation during the ceremony. The launch confirms that the project has entered its next phase, but the pooja itself should not be confused with the start of a full regular shooting schedule.

Mythri Movie Makers is backing the film through producers Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, in association with Sukumar Writings. T-Series Films is also associated with the project, with Bhushan Kumar presenting it. The production has described the collaboration as a film intended for audiences beyond the Telugu market.

🎞️ Peacock-Inspired RC17 Poster Reveals a Distinctive Design

The pre-look artwork takes a different approach from a conventional character poster. Against a white background, a painted sweep of blue, green, and gold forms a peacock-feather shape, with a stylized side profile worked into the design. The names of Mythri Movie Makers, Sukumar Writings and T-Series Films appear above the artwork, while the RC17 branding sits below it.

It is an imaginative introduction rather than a plot reveal. The design does not confirm a mythological story, Ram Charan’s character, or the film’s genre. The promotional campaign is using the phrase You Can Imagine, but the makers have not disclosed a synopsis.

🎬 Ram Charan and Sukumar Reunite After Rangasthalam

The collaboration was initially announced in March 2024, making the November 2026 pooja a long-awaited production milestone rather than a completely new project announcement. The pair last worked together on the 2018 Telugu drama Rangasthalam, in which Ram Charan played Chitti Babu opposite Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Its rural setting and character-driven conflict gave the actor a markedly different role from several of his earlier commercial films.

Since then, Ram Charan has appeared in films including RRR and Peddi, while Sukumar directed Pushpa: The Rise and Pushpa 2: The Rule. Their reunion matters because both have built substantial careers since their first film together, though that history alone doesn’t tell us what RC17’s screenplay will be.

📅 What’s Next for RC17?

Launch-day coverage has named Anirudh Ravichander as the composer and R. Rathnavelu as cinematographer. Those technical credits weren’t listed on the supplied launch poster, so the full crew announcement is still worth watching. The female lead, supporting cast, final film title, and theatrical release date have not been revealed.
